Casa Colibrí is a bilingual Spanish/English forest preschool for children aged 3-5. We are located on 1.7 acres of field, forest and stream in Milwaukie, OR, about five minutes east of downtown. We spend nearly all of our time outside, combining exploration and free play with focused activities like storytelling, singing, art, nature science, and homesteading. About 75% of Casa Colibrí's instruction and curriculum is in Spanish.
May we raise children
who love the unloved things
the dandelion, the worms
and spiderlings.
Children who sense
the rose needs the thorn
& run into rainswept days
the same way they
turn towards the sun...
And when they’re grown &
someone has to speak for those
who have no voice
may they draw upon that
wilder bond, those days of
tending tender things
and be the ones.
